Wildlife Education with a Twist!!!
Kids Entertainment for The Holidays! Do you love Lego and BUGS?!

Steven Gill is a keen naturalist, educator and wildlife photographer.

He has recently self-published a collection of children’s stories he wrote for, and about, his daughter, delivered a TEDx talk in Melbourne about his particularly unique approach to wildlife photography, and is actively engaged in sharing his thought-provoking environmental education.

The one-of-a-kind wildlife photographer from North Queensland founded Gone Buggo in 2019 to change the way people see, interpret and fight for the world we live in.

Understanding that photography of the macro world in its original habitat wasn’t enticing the general population enough to find out more, he started to photograph the bugs and reptiles he sees in LEGO dioramas. His photography quickly gained popularity on social media, including capturing the eye of global superstar Katy Perry.

Gone Buggo’s wildlife education with a twist has proven to be an effective way to communicate about our world and our connection to it with people of all ages and backgrounds.

“At the very least I want to share a sense of wonder and joy with people. The natural world is such an incredible and interesting place but in the digital age it often gets overlooked.

I believe Gone Buggo can change the way people see, interpret, and fight for, their world.

It is an opportunity to learn, to laugh, and to fall in love with your own world one critter at a time”.

Let me explain is about getting people invested in their own backyards.

The show is an opportunity to introduce people to the art, the artist, the process, and the meaning all at once in a fun and engaging way.

As the animal handler, LEGO builder, photographer, content creator, and educator, Steven’s lively, engaging, free-form approach to public speaking means every performance is a unique exploration into the inner workings and educational value of an entirely new approach to viewing rare, endangered, dangerous or often overlooked species.

“I grew up surrounded by wildlife, yet oblivious to it. I was disinterested, and unimpressed, and spent the majority of my youth fixated on fiction as I wasn’t helped to see any wonder in our own natural world.

I began to develop a suspicion that the human apathy towards many small, yet critical, functionaries within our environment was undermining any effort to gain support for environmental conservation”.

The show is an invitation to a life of learning, of unbridled curiosity, of awe and inspiration, and a call to arms for citizen scientists, but even if I can just get people out in their gardens and parks marvelling at the tiny wonders around them I’ll consider it a success.
